Brian Joubert withdrew from GPF due to injury

November 27, 2009

… eww so many bad skating news for me this week. Brian injured his foot in training during a triple Lutz attempt. He cut his right ankle and suffered a rupture at his tendon. Fortunately his bone isn’t affected that much. Brian suffered pretty the same injury three years ago. He went under a successful surgery last night (Thursday) and hopes to recover soon.

Today’s L’Equipe (Daily French Sports Newspaper) confirmed that Brian is definitely out for the French Nationals in Marseille in mid December. Anyway he plans to take part at the Euros in Tallinn in mid January before take off to Vancouver in February.

I scanned the article for you and hope Brian will take his time to recover and  get ready again to fight for this gold medal at the Olympics.

Delobel and Schönfelder back on ice

October 29, 2009

Delobel and Schönfelder are back on ice in Lyon and although they canceled their GP’s this year I really think they will take part at Euros in January in Talinn to prepare for the Olympics. Isabelle is so strong  just a couple of weeks after labor and her son Lois is incredible cute. Good luck to them!

French Masters Results

September 12, 2009

First of all the size of the ice rink looked weird to me. Some skaters especially Men really had problems with it during jumps . Préaubert’s coach Annick Dumont was shown with ice on her knee, I don’t know what happened to her. But get well soon Annick!

Pairs

1 James/Bonheur 139.15

3S he fell, 2 Tw shaky landing, 3STh very good, 3FTh, 2A+2A she turns out he landed on both feet. They really have to work on their lifts, they are all a bit, well I would say aprubt and unclean especially at the landing. Their Throw jumps are amazing and they thankfully changed their ugly Death spiral from last year.

2 Canac/Coia 136.49

2S her hand down, 2Tw solid, 3FTh hand down+turn out, 3STh she fell, 2A+1A she turns out and not in sync. Their lifts are very good with high difficulty.

Men

1 Florent Amodio 232.52 :D

His performance was simply amazing and outstanding. Best choreography of all Men. He landed everything except of the 4S. If he continues this way I am sure we’ll see him in Vancouver.

2 Brian Joubert 220.79

Fell on the 4T again and had some problems on other jumps. I cannot say much about the program because Orange TV decided Figure Skating needs no sound.

3 Alban Préaubert 217.36

He landed his 4T but fell on the 3Lz. I thought his CiSt was a bit slow but maybe it fits to the music. Some movements reminded me on his Swing Kids LP back in 2006. His costume (black jeans and RS shirt) rocks.

4 Yannick Ponsero 215.54

He fell on his 3A and doubled the other one. Some problems on other jumps including the 4T. He looked very displeased with his own performance.

Dance

1 Pechalat/Bourzat 150.93

Even without sound I can say this program is outstanding. Their lifts are gorgeous (SlLi looks like Nathalie wants to enter a Throw jump). Fabian had some painting in his face and a small error at the Twizzle sequence.

2 Blanc/Bouquet 135.90

I cannot say that much because the stream broke here. Black/purple costumes.

3 Carron/Jones 128.68

Jones is a bit slow at some points but they look cute together and are very young. I think they have potential to become a world class team some time.

4 Orlova/Jost 119.67

They skate very far away from each other. I would love to hear their music.

Men Results after SP

1 Florent Amodio 75.87
3A, 3Lz, 3S-2T

2 Brian Joubert 75.79
4T missed and may landend on wrong foot and edge, combo popped, 3A hand down, 3Lz

3 Alban Préaubert 75.53
3F-2T doubled, 3A very shaky and landed on wrong edge, 3Lo

4 Yannick Ponsero 70.02
4T totally missed, Combo popped, 3A, 3Lz very ugly position in the air

According to people who watched it: The Men’s Sp was a bit disappointing! But very nice effort by Amodio, such a tight contest between the first three places.

Pairs after SP

1 James/Bonheur 46.55
2Tw very high, sbs 3S very far away from each other, 3STh double footed.

2 Canac/Coia 44.79
2Tw, sbs 3S she fell, 3STh she steps out.

3 Foucher/Massot 41.33
2Tw, sbs 2A she underrotates, 3STh very good.

4 Chataigner/Bouzine 39.80
2Tw, 3FTH she fell, sbs 3S she underrotates he fell. A bit underscored at the components (16.2) in my opinion.

5 Letscher/Halmaert 31.39
2Tw, 3STH, sbs 2A he underrotates she fell, they move very slow over the ice

Mhh I would say: like expected. James/Bonheur must have trained the Twist Lift in China, very artistic :)
