Pairs (after LP)
The Swiss Pair Anais MORAND and Antoine DORSAZ finished only 6th with 121.70 points in total. She turned out on the double Axel and he fell at the Camel Spin. Anais and their coach Ingo Steuer seemed to be mad at Antoine afterwards for not trying to get back into the Spin after the fall; as a result they didn’t get tribute to the whole element. Ingo’s commentary in the K’n’C: “An element with crap quality is still better than no element. So now you probably kicked yourself out. ” Ingo talked about the qualification for the Olympics in February and I also think now they have nearly no chance to participate there.
Kaleigh HOLE and Adam JOHNSON from Canada won with 140.87 points. In the interview afterwards she said that she does pairs only since April. I was surprised by that because they were very strong especially at the pair skating elements such as the 3STh and the Lifts.

Dance (after OD)
I absolutely liked the program of the Swiss couple Ramona ELSENER / Florian ROOST (13th with 59.85 points). I felt like I’m in the Alps because you could even hear the cows mooing. They just needed stronger elements. Maia SHIBUTANI / Alex SHIBUTANI from the USA still lead with 90.44 points and a very strong performance in the OD, even I got a bit dizzy after their twizzle. Stefanie FROHBERG / Tim GIESEN from Germany are 7th with 72.34 points, they danced to an Irish music and were pretty good, one of the most creative programs. I am glad they didn’t choose Bavarian Beer Polka or something. Victoria SINITSINA / Ruslan ZHIGANSHIN from Russia are 6th with 73.37 points. Does someone know if he is related to Germany’s Nelli Zhiganshina, or is Zhiganshin a very common name in Russia?
My notes during the OD
Ladies (after SP) + Men (after FS)
Unfortunately I couldn’t watch these two, but on ISU the results are already online. Daniel Dotzauer from Germany finished 5th with 151.81 points. Congratulations! For those who are interested: Figureskating-Online published an interview with Daniel before the JGP (only in German). Click here
Today is the Free Dance, Pairs Free Skate and Ladies Free Skate from 10.30 – 16.00 h (local time), 16.30 – 22.00 h German Time. I keep my fingers crossed for Anais and Antoine

I looove watching Figure skating in the middle of the night
Dance (after CD)
Maia SHIBUTANI and Alex SHIBUTANI from the USA lead with 34.09 points. I loved their Tango argentino, such deep edges and great speed. The German couple Stefanie FROHBERG and Tim GIESEN got 27.80 points and are currently 7th. Really bad day for the very young French pair Gabriella PAPADAKIS and Guillaume CIZERON (15.33 points). She stepped on her skirt at the beginning, he fell at the first step of the first pattern and at the second round both fell on the 21st step, but they are only 14 and 15 years old. Good luck at the OD and FD! Because of sound problems inside the arena, the whole competition delayed for 20 minutes.

Men (after LP)
Richard DORNBUSH from USA won the Gold medal with 187.83 points. He did 6 clean triples including a triple axel in his Rachmaninoff LP. The silver medal also goes to the USA. Grant HOCHSTEIN with 179.03 points and a very well done 3Lz+3T combination. Third is Zhan BUSH from Russia with 155.27 points. A big success for the young Russian boy, his old personal best was 134.68. But anyway a big gap with over 30 points from first to third place! Germany’s Paul FENTZ lost two places after his LP and finished 12th with 115.84 points. He missed the 3Lz and singled the Axel.
Dance (after FD)
Elena ILINYKH / Nikita KATSALAPOV from Russia won with 166.06 points, I loved their Lift combination (curve+rotational) at the end. Second place goes to Karen ROUTHIER / Eric SAUCKE-LACELLE from Canada. They skated to Libertango and got 149.94 points; they also had a very nice lift combination at the end. Lorenza ALESSANDRINI / Simone VATURI from Italy finished third with 142.03 points. Dominique DIECK / Michael ZENKNER from Germany finished 13th overall with 115.51 points.
