Today Ingo Steuer (Coach of Aljona and Robin) lost his process against the Bundeswehr (German Army). He was released in 2006 when his former collaboration with the Stasi (Ministry for State Security) became public. A few months later the same happened to his skater Robin Szolkowy, because he and his partner Aljona did not want to leave Chemnitz and their coach. Szolkowy still has a contract with the Bundeswehr over eight years and claims for his reemployment.
The German federation (DEU) does not support Steuer until today and does not accept him as an official coach. Szolkowy’s process will be decided next Wednesday (8th July).
I am honestly asking myself if the German Fed did ever ask themselves what German Figure skating would be without Ingo (and Robin) … Answer: nothing!
